Abstract

This article presents the results of empirical research on the perception of cryptocurrencies among young participants of the financial market. The research was conducted in 2023, simultaneously in three countries: Poland, Romania, Ukraine and also among Ukrainians living in Poland. The aim of this research was to identify similarities and differences in the perception of national currencies, world reserve currencies and cryptocurrencies, as well as differences in the level of trust in the existing financial system in the world in post-pandemic reality and in times of military conflict. The results of the research showed that there are significant differences in perception, resulting from many factors, including the level of economic development, innovativeness of financial markets, historical conditions and the so-called collective awareness (mentality), shaping the financial behaviour of economy participants. The obtained research results can be a starting point for further, in-depth analyzes of the studied phenomenon at the international level, not only in the sphere of economics and finance, but also in sociology and psychology.
