Abstract

The paper explores the origins of such a disruptive model and the possible outcomes. Through the analysis of various data sources, the essay describes the impact it had on traditional accommodations and the changes in the real estate market caused by the sharing accommodation. The core is the definition of a cost structure to define the profitability of tourism rentals and along with the description of the leverages that induce an owner to list his property online and see impacts on two urban Italian destinations: Venice and Treviso.
