Recent Training Trends: Learning and effectiveness

Abstract

The purpose of the present paper is to identify recent trends in training and development. Five Indian companies were studied. Qualitative method was applied using structured interview schedule. Data were collected from the managers, responsible for identifying training needs, developing training as well as selecting employees for training. Employees were interviewed to understand level of satisfaction and learning. Results show that use of technology based training is increasing. Companies are using a mix of both online and offline mode. At the same time, training need analysis practices are evolving, and a focus is given to understand better the effectiveness.
