Review and Assesment of Fatigue Damage Models for Metallic Materials Through Energy Methods Based on Entropy

EasyChair Preprint no. 10956

7 pagesDate: September 23, 2023

Abstract

In this work, a review of the literature on models for estimating the damage of metallic materials subjected to fatigue based on the generation of entropy is presented, which correspond to research carried out by leading international groups. Three approaches were evaluated, using existing entropy data in the literature of 6061-T6 aluminum subjected to flexural fatigue at constant load amplitude. The characteristics, similarities and differences of the evaluated models are shown and discussed. It is proposed to extend fatigue studies using thermodynamics, since it provides a theoretical basis that is based on physical principles, contrary to traditional empirical methodologies, in which a large amount of experimental data is required to fit curves.
