MEGA is the acronym for Effective Methods in Algebraic Geometry(and its equivalent in many other languages). This series ofbiennial international conferences, with a tradition dating backto 1990, is devoted to computational and application aspects ofAlgebraic Geometry and related topics.
The organizers are making all the possible effort to make this gathering safe and of affordable access to all participants. However, due to travelling and/or attendance restrictions in the spring of 2021, some parts of this event may go online.
The conference will comprise invited talks, regular contributedtalks, presentations of computations, and a poster session; thelatter three are subject to a competitive submission process.
Invited speakers:
Alicia Dickenstein (Universidad de Buenos Aires)
Ana Romero Ibañez (Universidad de La Rioja)
Gleb Pogudin (École Polytechnique)
Greg Smith (Queen's University)
Gretchen L. Matthews (Virginia Tech)
Gunnar Floystad (Universitet i Bergen)
Kathlén Kohn (KTH)
Karin Baur (University of Leeds)
Mohab Safey El Din (Sorbonne Université)
Ragni Piene (Universitet i Oslo)
Important dates:
Deadline for submissions of papers/extended abstracts: February 1, 2021
Notification of acceptance of papers/extended abstracts: March 20, 2021
Deadline for submission of computation presentations/posters: March 20, 2021
Notification of acceptance of computation presentations/posters: April 10, 2021
Submissions: Please submit online at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mega2021
Submissions should contain recent original researchrelevant to effective methods in algebraic geometry (in a broadsense), including their foundations, analysis, complexity, computational aspects, practical issues and applications.
There are three types of submissions, distributed over the twodeadlines above:
- Regular papers, aimed to contributed talks: for these, authors can choose to submit either an extended abstract of at least four pages (not counting bibliography) that should contain full results, an outline of the proofs and all of the main ideas; or else a full paper with complete proofs.
- Computation presentations: these can concern new software packages, but also experiments with existing software that have led to new computational approaches to mathematical proofs/applications relevant to MEGA. Submission should be in the form of a short paper describing the software or computations.
- Posters: to be printed on A1, the posters will be exhibited during most of the conference, and during a poster session the authors will have the opportunity to discuss their work with the conference participants.
All submissions should clearly state the contributions andachievements, with sufficient detail to understand theirsignificance.
Submissions may contain material already submitted elsewhere, but this fact has to be stated explicitly in the abstract.Acceptance of such submissions depends on their specialsignificance for the community.
Acceptance of a submitted contribution means acceptance for oralor poster presentation only. A special issue of a journal isplanned to which authors of accepted original papers will beinvited to submit the full version after the conference. Onlyoriginal research contributions will be considered forpublication in the journal special issue.
We particularly encourage the participation of young researchers.
