IWBDA 2026 is the Eighteenth International Workshop on Bio Design Automation. It will be held in Boulder, Colorado, June 18 to 20, 2026, immediately after SEED 2026. The workshop program will include oral presentations and posters selected from submitted abstracts, Birds of a Feather discussions, and breakout sessions on selected topics. IWBDA’s goal is to bring together academic researchers and industry partners to advance bio design automation for synthetic biology. The workshop serves as a forum for cross disciplinary discussion across synthetic biology, systems biology, and design automation, with an emphasis on sharing requirements, exchanging ideas, and fostering collaborations that accelerate efficient biological workflows.

Submissions cannot exceed two pages, excluding figures and tables. All abstracts must use the IWBDA template and must not exceed two pages excluding figures and tables. Template options include:

All abstracts will undergo a single blind peer review process on EasyChair. Accepted abstracts will be invited to present as a poster or a talk at the conference.
IWBDA encourages abstracts describing ongoing research suitable for later expansion into a full journal paper. The organizers are in discussions with ACS Synthetic Biology about a potential special issue on bio design automation for extended journal submissions.
