Call for Abstracts: Overview
The CLEAN-Air Forum is an annual convening for the communities of practice in Africa and serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaborations, multi-regional partnerships, and networks to tackle air pollution in African cities. The 2025 forum will be held in East Africa, Nairobi, Kenya from 15th-17th July. This year’s theme Partnerships for Clean Air Solutions seeks to strengthen cross-border transdisciplinary partnerships, evidence generation and capacity for advancing clean air solutions in Africa.
The programme committee welcomes abstract submissions for podium, poster presentations and exhibitions on the following topics
- Air Quality Monitoring, including deployment of networks, data analysis using modelling and machine learning, and data sharing
- Sectoral contributions: can include scientific data, source apportionment, case studies on different sectors such as transport, waste, energy, agriculture, and industry
- Remote sensing/satellite retrievals for assessment of air quality
- Health effects of air pollution
- Household air pollution
- Use of citizen science in air quality and public awareness
- Air quality management and regulation
- Future air pollution scenarios/challenges
- Exhibition on clean air actions and innovation
Submission Guidelines
Abstract preparation: Abstracts should be no more than 300 words in English and should include 3-5 keywords
Co-author approval: Ensure that all co-authors approve the abstract and its potential presentation.
Abstract review: Abstracts will be reviewed by the programme committee, and acceptance notifications emailed to corresponding authors
Selection Criteria
- Relevance to the CLEAN-Air Forum and sessions
- Abstracts that include a mix of authors and those that include collaboration with experts affiliated with institutions in Africa will be preferred
- Submissions with new scientific data are encouraged
- Accepted abstracts not selected for podium presentation will be automatically recommended for poster presentations
- Exhibitions should demonstrate relevance to air quality and clean air actions
